






This course is aimed at those who are looking to learn the principles involved in creating a captivating and absorbing portrait. Covering everything from the key principles of portraiture to engaging with your subject, to lighting techniques intermediate portraiture will give you all the tools you’ll need to create striking images. You will cover not only the key principles involved in portraiture with studio lighting set ups and techniques, but also work on exploring your individual style and personal avenues of development.
In each session you’ll look at the work of a key photographer such as Richard Avedon or Nadav Kander, exploring their styles and the methods they employ to create their very distinctive imagery. After each section, you’ll progress to guided shooting sessions in the studio, where you will have the opportunity to re-create some of their lighting and other typical studio lighting techniques. Focus will also be placed on learning how to engage and interact with your subject to get the best out of them and your image.
