Jess Eaton- Roadkill Couture
Jess Eaton’s collections of hand crafted bespoke garments could easily be described as contentious, not least because her label “Roadkill Couture” does exactly what it says on the tin – each garment having been painstakingly and skilfully constructed from the pelts, bones and feathers of animals that were sourced from road accidents, butchers, were killed as pests or died of natural causes.
Although she has sparked a fair amount of controversy, Jess’s unique approach to the use of animal pelts in her pieces has won her just as many admirers as critics. Many agree with her ethos that the use of animal parts which would otherwise be thrown away or discarded, is an environmentally viable and socially responsible way to create items of beauty.
Having shot her first collection with Kevin Mason, Jess returned to Create with this years garments, for a shoot with Kenny McCracken, which included pieces from her brand new bridal collection.
